Prof. Amir is also appointed as Visitor Research Scholar in Mechanical Engineering Department at Texas Tech University (TTU) since 2015. 

Prof. Amir's research work has a clear focus in the following fields; Opto-Mechatronics, Optical sensors, Micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems (MOEMS), Bio-sensors, Biomedical devices,Vibration control, Robotics and Locomotions and Bond Graph. Therefore, his research work allows access to a very broad range of applications in the Mechatronics. 

In 2017, Prof. Amir appointed as the Editorial Board of American Journal of Optics and Photonics for two more years.
